Safety First

Your safety is of paramount concern while trekking with us and below you can find some safety tips that we request everyone follows during a yoga trek. Please note that your trek leader has the authority to amend any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. We will make every effort to keep to the original itinerary but this adventure entails travelling in remote mountainous regions and we need to always be prepared for the unexpected. Weather conditions, health condition of a group member, unexpected natural disasters etc. can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The leader will ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.

Safety Tips

  • Educate yourself about altitude sickness, visit our AMS page
  • Pack accordingly to your trekking trail and season - be prepared with rainproof and windproof as well as warm clothing at all times
  • Inform your guide promptly if you have any problem, concern, health issue or request
  • Alcohol and altitude don't mix, please be responsible
  • The weather can be unpredictable so please be ready to change course or itinerary plan if adverse weather strikes
  • Look at the trail when walking and be aware of your surroundings. If you want to admire a beautiful view or take a photo, please stop and take your time rather than walk and try to do everything at the same time. Lack of awareness leads to accidents
  • If at any time you find yourself alone and confused about the trail - stop and wait for your guide
  • Always walk at your own comfortable pace, no rush, no pressure. If you feel out of breath, stop and take some time to rest. Follow your own comfort level, nobody else's
  • In higher altitudes the sunrays are more intense and burn easily, use a high SPF sunscreen on exposed parts of the skin, face and lips
  • Be mindful of proper hygiene, especially with food
  • Avoid deep fried and greasy food on the trek, choose the healthiest option from the teahouse menu
  • Drink only treated or boiled and filtered water on the trek
  • When you encounter animals - cows, yaks, buffalo or pony - always stay on the safe mountain side of the path, while you wait for them to pass. Don't get too close to the edge and do not pet the animals
  • Keep your valuables safe and with you at all times
  • Be aware of your surroundings, if passing by a landslide area, avalanche area or a glacier, do not be loud and remain highly alert
  • Always wear dark sunglasses if crossing through snow
